DUNCAN — An exhibit on Peaches Davis, former Cincinnati Reds pitcher and former Duncan resident, will open at noon Saturday at Stephens County Historical Museum.
Roy “Peaches” Davis, played for Cincinnati from 1936-1939. Davis was from Duncan and began his baseball career playing for the Halliburton Cementers Baseball team in Duncan.
His family donated items for the new exhibit at the Stephens County Historical Museum. The exhibit is filled with personal items that tell his story, according to Keith Colley, executive director of the museum.
“We are finding people of all ages are drawn to the exhibit, even non-baseball people,” Colley said. “Our hope it to keep the memories and stories of a local boy gone pro alive. Come learn about not only Peaches, but also the first baseball team, known then as the Cincinnati Red Stockings prior to being known as the Cincinnati Reds.”
The museum is located at 1402 W. Beech Avenue. The museum is open from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday. Call (580) 252-0717 for information.
