Issues at the Medicine Park water treatment plant are leaving large portions of Lawton with excessively low or no water pressure Thursday morning.
Portions of the plant’s filtration system are not communicating with each other, and plant operators have suspended water production until they resolve the issue, said Caitlin Gatlin, communications director for the City of Lawton.
“We’re hoping pressure is restored by 10 a.m.,” Gaitlin said.
The area of greatest impact stretches from Northwest/Southwest 38th Street to Railroad Street, West Lee Boulevard to Cache Road.
There also is a water main break at South 11th Street and Southwest G Avenue that is affecting other users.
Numerous Lawton Public School sites, including Lawton High, Central Middle and Cleveland Elementary schools, are going to virtual platforms today because their sites have little to no water pressure. Parents and students at those schools are being notified by LPS.
