A 24-year-old Lawton man will serve eight years in prison after pleading guilty to downloading child pornography.
On Tuesday, Austin Lane Teague entered a blind plea guilty in Comanche County District Court to felony counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and using a communication facility to commit a felony, records indicate. A blind plea is when you plead guilty to the judge without the benefit of a plea deal.
District Judge Jay Walker sentenced Teague to 30 years with eight to serve and 22 suspended as well as three years of Department of Corrections supervision upon release. He will have to register as a sex offender.
The District Attorney’s office requested Teague serve 15 years with 10 years suspended.
Teague was charged in October 2022 following an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with assistance by the Lawton Police Department.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded a Cybertip to the OSBI earlier in 2022 based on information received from an electronic service provider. The service provider notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user downloaded child pornography. The IP addressed traced back to Teague’s residence at 601 NE Flower Mound Road, according to the OSBI.
A search warrant was served at the home in Sherwood Village Mobile Home Park and, based on the evidence collected during the search warrant, Teague was arrested and booked into the Comanche County Detention Center.
Teague has been held on $25,000 bond since his initial court appearance on Oct. 7, 2022. He received credit for time served on his sentence.
