Flagg named the AP men’s player of the year

Chad Perry had a good night bowling in last Monday’s Early Birds at Thunderbird Lanes, putting together a 770 series on games of 246, 300 and 224.

Perry said that a couple of mistakes cost him an 800 series but it was one of those ‘it was there’ kind of nights.

The string of before and after strikes was not reported but we are certain quite a few strikes sur-rounding that middle game of 300 that was Perry’s fifth career perfect score.

Adult Highlights

Jeff Bowman was another bowler to find his groove, posting a 742 in the Guys and Dolls on games of 265, 232 and 245.

The dynamic husband/wife duo of Tyler and Amanda Price led in TNT action where hubs went 256, 246 and 234 for a 736 and wifey rolled 223, 235 and 264 for a 722, topping the ladies charts.

Troy Hardin held up the His and Hers’ with a 734 series with games of 233, 266 and 235 and Robert Lawson tipped the scale at 717 to lead in the Tuesday Night Mixed where he rolled 254, 216 and 247.

Michael Gillian busted the 700 marker at 710 on games of 237, 227 and 246 for the Goodyear high series and honorable mentions this week go to the following.

Dean Ellis, first year senior league bowler in the Entertainers league, rolled a 215 off a 138 average and Laron Harris, bowling in the His and Hers’ bowled a 205 game off a 122 average.

Youth Highlights

Jake Croft posted the only 200 game for Thunderbird youth bowlers, a 210 in the Legends that assisted in the weeks high series of 533.

Joseph Reser had a stellar day in the HotShots U12 group, putting a 451 in the books on games of 162, 147 and 142, off a 119 average.

And Knox Hill was the bumper MiniShots leader with a 113 game.

No-Tap News

Cleo Travis rolled a 928 handicap series to take first place in last Friday’s senior 9-Pin No Tap Colo-rama at Thunderbird Lanes.

Travis edged his son Randy out by four sticks, leaving him in second for a 924 set that started with a no-tap 278.

David Yett took third with 834 thanks to the big game of the day of 298.

Diane Frame won the women’s division with 841.

Scratch singles winners were Randy Travis, 783, David Yett, 780 and Sam Bowman, 730.

Mystery doubles winners were Diane Frame with Rob Scoggins, 591, David Yett with Mike Peckin-paugh, 578, and Cleo Travis with Sam Bowman, 599.

There were no Challenge Shot winners but several bowlers cashed in on strike pot tickets.

Winners were David Yett, Diane Frame, James Halstead, Leilani Wiggins, Mike Peckinpaugh and Gene Augustine Jr.

Next week’s event will be the Christmas Special with lots of extras planned.

Senior bowlers age 50 (+) are invited to join the fun starting at 1 p.m. on Friday.
