Lawton Public Schools Esports competitors from Hugh Bish Elementary and Crosby Park Elementary claimed “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” and “Mario Kart 8” awards at the Oklahoma Scholastic Esports Little eLeague State Championship at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Dec. 1.
“This is the second successful season for OKSE Little eLeague,” said John Robertson, LPS Elementary Esports Coordinator. “The students have been working really hard all semester to improve their skills, and their coaches have gone out of their way to make sure their players are taken care of and honing their skills.”
Hugh Bish Elementary Knight Aiden Adams beat Crosby Park Elementary Longhorn Bill Johnson 3-2 in a best-of-five set in “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” to hold on to his title as state champion. Aiden won the inaugural Little eLeague “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” championship in April 2023. Ridgecrest Elementary student Kalel Gonzalez-Locklin placed third during state playoffs.
In “Mario Kart 8,” Brian Gonzalez and Aaron Oliver of Crosby Park won the state championship title after forcing a bracket reset in grand finals against Aiden Adams and Ethan Razo of Hugh Bish. Weleetka Elementary School finished in third place.
