Christmas Parades ready to march in Stephens County

DUNCAN — The holiday spirit will fill the air with smiles and laughter as Christmas parade processions begin to march through Stephens County this weekend.

County parades will begin in Marlow, travel through Duncan and wrap up in Comanche on Saturday and bring a plethora of opportunities to see Santa and gather some candy as community members jingle down city streets and spread holiday cheer.

To jumpstart the morning, Marlow Chamber of Commerce will launch its annual Christmas Parade down Marlow’s Main Street. The Marlow Christmas Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Executive Director Destiny Ahlfenger said parade viewers can enjoy their traditional viewpoints along Main Street.

The parade line-up will begin on Seminole Avenue, just one block south of Marlow’s Main Street, between 8-8:45 a.m.

As the parade wraps up, Santa will make a special appearance for all to see.

In the afternoon, Main Street Duncan will continue the holiday festivities with its annual Christmas Parade at 3 p.m Saturday. Main Street Duncan Executive Director Brandi Johnson said this year’s parade theme is “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

To cap off the evening, Comanche will host its Christmas parade at 7 p.m. Saturday and light up the night. Ryan Woody, event coordinator said the parade route will run along Main Street.

“It starts out at the high school parking lot and goes until First Street,” he said. “Anywhere along Main Street is a good spot to be.”

There is no specific theme for for the parade, just Christmas decorations.

Santa will appear on a firetruck to close out the parade and Woody said they request no other Santa be included in other float displays.
