DEVOL — A stretch of Interstate 44 near Devol has a new name after a dedication ceremony recently.
Friends and family gathered, along with Sen. Chris Kidd this past weekend to officially dedicate a stretch of Interstate 44 in honor of long-time resident William “Mark” Miller.
Miller was raised in nearby Grandfield and was a long-time farmer and rancher of the Big Pasture area, according to a press release.
“Mark had a huge impact on many lives in this area, including that of my own as a humble, Christian leader. Mark was always someone you respected, and I was honored to carry this legislation to name the first and last five miles of I-44 after Mark Miller,” Kidd said.
Gov. Kevin Stitt signed the naming legislation this past summer.
Interstate 44 from the Red River north to Exit 5 and southbound from Exit 1 to the Red River is now named in honor of Mark Miller.
