Residents of Southwest Oklahoma and beyond are invited to celebrate the holiday season with festive tree lighting ceremonies hosted by Cameron University at its Lawton and Duncan campuses.
Festivities are scheduled at the Lawton campus beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 in Bentley Gardens, located on the east side of campus off University Drive. Cameron University’s Duncan celebration will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 on that campus, located at 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Avenue. Both events are open to the public at no charge.
Those who attend will receive a free Cameron commemorative tree ornament, as long as supplies last. At the Lawton event, families are invited to take their children inside the nearby McMahon Centennial Complex, where they can stop by craft stations to create holiday-themed trinkets. While in Duncan, craft kits will be available to take home. Cookies and popcorn will satisfy any sweet tooth, and hot cocoa, apple cider and eggnog will quench everyone’s thirst, organizers said.
Cameron mascot Ole Kim will be on hand for photos at both locations. Revelers in Lawton can enjoy a carriage ride, while those visiting the Duncan festivities can look forward to a mini-train ride.
“The Cameron University family welcomes community members as we usher in the holiday season,” said Cameron President John McArthur. “We look forward to seeing visitors from southwest Oklahoma at the festivities.”
Parking for the Lawton event is available at the intersection of University Drive and Southwest D Avenue. Parking is available adjacent to the building at the Duncan campus.
