Cameron University’s basketball teams will have a busy holiday schedule starting this evening when the CU men visit Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a 7 p.m. contest.
The Aggies are 2-2 on the young season after losing to Rogers State last Thursday, 74-64, but bouncing back to beat Kansas Christian College on Friday.
After tonight’s road game at Weatherford, the CU men will be off until Nov. 30.
The Cameron women are also 2-2 after ending a long dry spell against Central Oklahoma with a 63-60 overtime victory at the Aggie Gym on Friday. That marked the first time in 19 games that the Aggie women had beaten the Bronchos.
Katie King poured through 24 points and Korie Allensworth added 13 as the Aggies got the win against former CU head coach Emma Andrews. King hit a pair of free throws for a 62-60 lead with 15 seconds left in overtime and then CU’s Shamika Smith added another free throw with four seconds to give the Aggies their final margin.
CU head coach Jeff Mahoney will take his club on the road this week to face Colorado School of Mines on Friday and then Regis College on Saturday. Both the opponents are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Association and thus these are important regional matchups for Mahoney’s club.
