Accused of a home invasion of his ex-girlfriend, police said an Indiahoma man has shown a pattern of domestic assault against the woman.
Markese Cantrell Love, 32, made his initial appearance Friday in Comanche County District Court where he was charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary and domestic abuse — prior pattern of physical abuse, as well as a misdemeanor charge of disrupting an emergency phone call, records indicate. The burglary count is punishable by between seven to 20 years in prison.
Lawton police were called shortly before 1 p.m. Nov. 13 to a home in the 1700 block of Northwest Ozmun Avenue regarding a home invasion. They arrived to find the front glass door shattered and the eight weeks pregnant victim suffering bruising and swelling to her right eye as well as red marks on her neck and forehead, the probable cause affidavit states. She identified Love, with whom she’d been in a past dating relationship, as the invader.
The woman told police she’d shut the front door when she saw Love approaching the home and he broke the glass door before banging on the wooden door. She said he ran around back, pushed in the window air conditioning unit and climbed inside before attacking her, the affidavit states. She said he slammed her, held her down with his knee, took her phone and began punching her before leaving through the front door.
Police recognized Love’s pattern of abuse of the woman by a July 5 felony domestic assault and battery by strangulation charge he’d received, according to the charges. He has been free on $30,000 bond for that case with the stipulation he have no contact with her.
Love has a July 2011 felony conviction in Comanche County for second-degree burglary.
Love is now being held on $100,000 bond for the latest charges, again with the stipulation he have no contact with the woman. He returns to court at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
