The Comanche Indian Veterans Association (CIVA) France Delegation will hold a fundraiser Friday to assist with costs to attend the 80th D-Day Anniversary in Normandy, France.
The event is meant to allow the delegation the opportunity to honor a Comanche legacy to history, according to Commander Kevin Pohawpatchoko.
“The Comanche Indian Veterans Delegation will be honoring the Comanche Code Talker who sent coded messages during the WW II Normandy invasion,” he said.
The fundraiser will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Dorothy Lorentino Sunrise Education Center, 1608 SW 9th. Bingo games begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be baked potatoes, nachos and hot dogs, as well as drinks, for concessions, and also a cake walk.
Games are 20 games for $20, three cards per sheet. You can buy extra sheets on the floor. There also will be special games not included in the pack.
