SHAWNEE—Elgin pitcher Kamber Crow was able to get some solid defense behind her as the Owls earned a 3-0 victory over Pryor to advance to the Class 5A State semifinals at Firelake Softball Complex.
The Owls will return today 2:30 p.m. to face No. 1-ranked Piedmont in the semifinals on Field No. 2. Piedmont beat Durant by the same 3-0 score.
On the other side of the bracket Guthrie edged Tahlequah, 7-6, while No. 7-ranked Coweta surprised No. 2 Carl Albert, 6-1. Guthrie and Coweta battle at noon in the other semifinal.
The news wasn’t as good for Cache, which fell by a 4-0 score to Newcastle in the 4A State meet.
Also in 4A, Blanchard edged No. 1 Tuttle, 1-0; Purcell routed Poteau, 12-5, and North Rock Creek beat Weatherford, 2-0.
The semifinals in 4A will have Blanchard meeting Purcell at noon on Field 1 while Newcastle and North Rock Creek tangle at 2:30 p.m. on Field 1.
