HULEN — The Hulen Volunteer Fire Department found out the first time was worth doing again.
So, they’ve scheduled the 2nd Annual Fire and Chrome Car Show and Fundraiser beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 14 at the fire station, 13702 SE Baseline Road, intersecting with Oklahoma 65.
Shine up and bring out your ride, be it cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, lawnmowers or scooters, this event is for everyone, according to Brandy Derr, spokesperson for the event.
Registration begins at 9 a.m, with a $20 entry fee per vehicle. Judging will begin at 11 a.m. with awards presented at 3 p.m. “Last year was a great success and we have added more classes and awards to the show this year,” Derr said.
While you’re enjoying the show, you’re also invited to have lunch. Street tacos begin serving at 11 a.m. until they run out.
Derr said there are things for everyone, including prize raffles, 50/50 raffle, a silent auction for the adults, a live dessert auction for the hungry and a Kids Korral for the young and young at heart.
“The live auction can get a little competitive so be prepared to bid high on your favorite offering,” she said.
Hulen Volunteer Fire Department is committed to the idea of community support, according to Derr.
“When we support our community, our community supports us,” she said. Our department is an all-volunteer force. We provide services to the Hulen rural community, to both Comanche County and Cotton County rural areas, and mutual aid to our surrounding departments and communities. We also are committed to providing rehab services to our brother and sister firefighters, first responders and emergency medical personnel.”
The department, founded in 1986, is dedicated to the mission of providing emergency services to the surrounding rural communities, Derr said.
“We are asking the citizens we serve to help us continue providing these services by attending this event or considering us for any donations you may make over the upcoming holiday season,” she said.
