City Council members spent more than two hours in executive session Thursday discussing applicants for Lawton city manager.
City officials said the council had been expected to view video presentations from some applicants, in an effort to narrow down those they want to interview in person. The council took no action when it returned to open session shortly after 4:20 p.m. and made no comments.
The council is searching for a replacement for former City Manager Michael Cleghorn, who resigned in March after serving as Lawton city manager since February 2019. City Attorney John Ratliff was designated interim city manager at the same meeting, and council members said he would continue to fill that role until they select a replacement. The city manager is one of four top administrative positions that work directly for the council, meaning they and the mayor hire those employees.
