A 35-year-old Edmond man is wanted for allegations he enticed a Comanche County teen into exchanging pornographic images and videos through SnapChat.
On Tuesday, the Comanche County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant for Wesley Asa Atherton for a count of unlawful use of a communication facility, records indicate. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
The 16-year-old boy’s father told investigators on Aug. 7 of catching his son and Atherton exchanging the materials.
The boy said he and Atherton met on a gay men’s dating site and began communicating while playing an online game. He said they exchanged phone numbers and soon after began exchanging the personal photos and videos through SnapChat, the warrant affidavit states. He said Atherton also bought a solar charger from Amazon and sent it to his home.
While reading the boy’s messages, investigators said an Aug. 7 conversation included statements from Atherton apologizing for getting the teen “in trouble,” the affidavit states. He also asked the teen if they needed to go unsave all photos from the site.
Detectives also learned Atherton introduced the boy to the drug poppers, a chemical for ingesting or inhaling nitrite products for recreational use, including sexual experience enhancement, according to the affidavit. Investigators said the products, similar to Amyl nitrite, are not safe to ingest or inhale.
A $50,000 cash warrant bond was issued upon Atherton’s arrest. As part of the bond condition, he is to have no contact with the teen.
