Night time photography is an art in itself. A general lack of light provides many challenges, but also plenty of opportunities to get a truly eye-catching shot.
To help photographers of all skill levels with capturing the splendor of the night sky, the Wichita Wildlight Photographic Society has invited Jeremy Davis, a Lawton-based landscape, wildlife and nature photographer, to its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Boulevard Church across from Eisenhower High School, 5309 W. Gore.
Davis will present his program on Nightscape photography, which incorporates the landscape into the tapestry of stars, according to a release. Attendees will learn how to capture the galactic core of the Milky Way, using special apps and pre-planning, as well as how to photograph star trails and do “light painting” to add depth and detail to the foreground.
Wichita Wildlight Photographic Society, as a member of the Lawton Arts for All organization, is partly funded by its participation in community events and by its members giving classes and displaying photographic art for the public. More information and links to photo tutorials can be found on the society’s website at WichitaWildlight.org.
The next meeting on Oct. 12 will feature a program on video photography by Cindy McIntyre.
