ELGIN — Once Chamber positions were appointed at the Dec. 13 meeting, officers began their duties.
Elected to their one-year term are Jordan Bethal, vice president; Angela Hardin, secretary, and Melissa Dawson, treasurer. Leslie Durham was reelected to serve a second term as president.
Officers met Dec. 16 to discuss what is needed in moving forward with promotions, membership drives, updating the purpose statement along with bylaws to present at the January meeting. They also planned the annual banquet, considered bringing the welcome totes and membership directory back into play, and several other topics, Durham wrote in an email to Southwest Chronicle.
The chamber “works to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the area,” the organization’s website states.
“I’m looking forward to working with a great group of business leaders,” Durham said. “We all bring unique ideas and perspectives to the table. We have already started working on some ideas for the upcoming year to enhance the benefits of membership, and best practices of growing membership.”
Elgin Chamber of Commerce meets at noon on the second Tuesday of each month and “feature a wide variety of speakers on issues of importance to business,” according to the organization’s website. Meetings are great networking opportunities, and lunch is provided to members free of charge.
