LAWTON – Cameron’s volleyball team lost in the Lone Star Conference opener to University of Texas-Tyler in straight sets inside the Aggie Gym last Friday.
Tyler won 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11.
Arianna Navarrete led the Aggies with seven kills and nine digs. Paris Patterson had three kills, Jacee Stelter collected two, and Natalia Araujo, Jessica Lipkit, and Anjolie Navarrete added one.
Anjolie Navarrete collected five of the seven aces from Cameron on the day. Meagan Jimenez and Arianna Navarrete had the others.
Anjolie Navarrete collected 11 assists, and Meagan Jimenez had four.
Arianna Navarrete had a team-high nine digs, Jimenez and Patterson added seven, Anjolie Navarrete scooped five, Araujo had three, and Stelter added two.
Araujo, Henderson, Lipkit, and Arianna Navarrete recorded two blocks, while Trinity Maldonado and Anjolie Navarrete added one.
The Black and Gold dominated to open the game with a 6-1 start and stretched it to a 10-3 lead. UT Tyler used a 9-0 run to take the lead at 12-10, Cameron would tie it up at 12-12, but the Patriots closed with a 13-point rally to win the first set.
The second set started close, with early ties at 1-1, 4-4, and 6-6. Tyler would use a 12-2 advantage to stretch their lead to 16-8, eventually winning 25-16.
The Patriots opened the third set strong, building an 8-1 lead before stretching it to 14-4 and 24-9. After a two-point rally by the Aggies, UT Tyler closed the match with a 25-11 third-set win.
