SAN ANGELO, Texas – Ashley Davis, Maelle Dreyer, and Maria Jose Savoca led the Cameron women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Concho River Classic in San Angelo Sept. 19-20.
Cameron turned in a two-day total of 317-311—628, placing the Aggies in fourth, behind Texas A&M International and Angelo State, which shot a 611 to tie for the team titles. Western Texas Community College recorded a team total of 622 for third place.
Dreyer tallied rounds of 78 and 76 for a two-day total of 154 to finish in eighth place. Savoca placed ninth with a two-day total of 79-76—15. Teammate Davis tied for 10th place with rounds of 80 and 76 for a total of 156 on the par 72, a 6,078-yard course at the Bentwood Country Club.
The Black-and-Gold made 11 birdies in the tournament with Davis notching a team-high four. Dreyer sunk three, and Ellie Fellers, Malerie Nyberg, and Savoca each recorded one. Emma Englefield, competing as an individual, also had two birdies.
Nyberg finished in 29th place with a two-day score of 82-83—165, and Fellers carded an 80-86—166 to tie for 30th place.
Englefield would tie for 30th place with a two-day total of 84-82—166.
Maria Sierra Sanz from Angelo State won the individual title with a score of 76-73—149.
The Aggies will play in the West Regional Preview in Dallas on Oct. 3-4, which is hosted by Dallas Baptist University.
