Fort Sill Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) will host the Second Annual Warrior Run at 6 a.m. March 22, 2025, at the Patriot Club, 500 Upton Rd, Fort Sill..
Runners of all skill levels are invited to take on a challenging test of endurance and resilience. This year’s event offers a full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), 10K run, 10K ruck, 5K run, youth and kids 5K and 1-mile runs, pushing participants to train hard and embrace the warrior ethos.
The event, which has quickly become a highlight in Southwest Oklahoma’s running calendar, will feature a course that weaves all across the installation, allowing runners to enjoy historical scenery and southwest Oklahoma beauty along the way.
“This isn’t just a race—it’s an opportunity to test your limits, build resilience and be part of something bigger than yourself,” Col. Derek Baird said, Fort Sill garrison commander. “The Warrior Run embodies the spirit of Fort Sill, blending fitness, history and camaraderie.”
The Warrior Run, which debuted last year with a successful half marathon, now stands as Oklahoma’s third major marathon, following the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa. The expansion to a full marathon reflects Fort Sill’s commitment to promoting fitness, readiness and community engagement.
Fort Sill Family and MWR Director Sarah Gersper said she is excited to honor the spirit of resilience and camaraderie at this year’s Fort Sill Warrior Run.
“This event not only challenges participants to push their limits but also brings together our community to celebrate the warriors among us and within us,” Gersper said. “We invite everyone to join us in this inspiring journey as we run, support one another and celebrate the remarkable warriors of our community.”
Family and MWR Special Events Coordinator Ethan Briner said planning this marathon has been something special.
“Seeing the running community come together over this marathon has been incredible,” Briner said. “This isn’t even about running anymore—it’s about pushing past limits together to do things we never thought we could.”
“If you live by the warrior ethos,” Briner said, “this race is for you. Come out and be part of something bigger than yourself—be part of a community that strives for excellence, cares for one another and pushes you to be all you can be.”
