Lawton Public Schools approve land lease agreements, updates
Land lease agreements and updates to facilities were among the topics approved at the Lawton Public Schools school board meeting on March 3.
LPS approved of a land lease agreement with the Lawton Youth Sports Trust Authority to lend acreage east of MacArthur Middle and High School for a new indoor youth sports center.
Action was also approved to use a lift station for Lawton High School’s Multipurpose GMAX facility to improve plumbing routes.
The board also approved a land swap with the City of Lawton for the Animal Control department. The entities traded an acre of land each: the City for a bus barn and LPS for the LHS football field.
LPS also issued an Emergency Declaration to fix Freedom Elementary’s HVAC system due to burst pipes. Currently, there is heat but no A/C available at the school and must be fixed for the spring season.
