Eisenhower High School is looking for a new football coach after Javon Harris was removed from his job Friday by the Lawton Public Schools.
Harris, a standout player at MacArthur High School and then at the University of Oklahoma, had served as the Ike coach for the past three seasons, two seasons as a Class 5A school and then this past season in Class 6A.
Harris posted a message on Facebook after he was fired:
“As of today, Lawton Public Schools has relieved me of my duties as Head Football Coach and Powerlifting Coach at Eisenhower High School due to wanting to go in a different direction. I want to thank everyone that supported me in this role.
To my players: Guys I can’t thank you enough for making me a better man, father and coach. I hope I was able to instill great work ethic, integrity and discipline for life.
To my community: As a former student athlete of LPS, I tried to bring back youth camps, community involvement and a winning mindset. I hope I was able to do that in my time here. With that said. . . I’m a free agent coach!!! I love you all.”
LPS is expected to launch an immediate search for a replacement but details and a list of qualifications has yet to be posted.
