Comanche County Memorial Hospital held an “Operation” game themed health care career fair Thursday. The fair was designed to be fun and educational for those curious about what a career in the health care field holds.
“The fair is a great way for those who have wondered what working in healthcare is like, to see some of the things that happen here, and ask any questions on how to get started,” said Heather Love, Quality, Safety, Risk and Education Administrative Director in a press release.
The event was held in CCMH’s simulation center, and as part of the event, students were allowed to watch demonstrations on the hospital’s simulated mannequins, including a premature baby, another infant, and multiple adult mannequins. The event allowed those interested in the health care field to be shown some of the things that happen in a hospital, including patients coding and intubation, among other procedures.
“This fair is meant to encourage people to come and learn about different health careers and how to get started in a health career. This is intended for those who have always wanted to learn about health care, but really didn’t know how to do it,” said Love.
There were multiple stations set up for those attending to learn about radiology, lab, pharmacy, nursing, along with CCMH’s programs. There were also medical program representatives at the fair ready to discuss education options for healthcare career-seekers.
There are two more events scheduled for this year, one on May 1 and one in August.
