Stephens County man accused of sexual assault of teen student

DUNCAN — A $1 million cash bond was ordered for a Stephens County man wanted for allegations he forced himself sexually on 15-year-old student at driving school.

On Friday, the Stephens County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant for Manfredo Carlos Mendez-Medina, 34, of Duncan, for a count of lewd acts with a minor under 16, records indicate. The crime is punishable by between three to 20 years in prison and due to the nature of the crime, 85 percent of a sentence would have to be served before consideration for parole.

Marlow Police Officer Rick Coberly stated he was called Feb. 1 on the report of a sexual assault and spoke with the teen boy’s mother. She said her son attends A+ Driving Academy and he’d told her he’d been touched in a way he was uncomfortable with by a man at the class, the warrant affidavit states. A forensic interview was conducted with the teen.

The teen said Mendez-Medina had sat down close to him on a couch at the school and began rubbing the boy’s private parts before escalating with further unwanted contact, the affidavit states. He told the officer he was “too scared to do anything.” He also said Mendez-Medina had asked him to meet him in the bathroom but the teen went to class instead. However, later, when the teen went to the bathroom, he said the man followed in attempt of further sexual contact, Coberly stated. The teen said that following a struggle with Mendez-Medina, he was able to get past him and out of the bathroom.

After class, the teen told him mom what happened. She told Coberly she went to the driving school and talked with the owners who, she said, “were very nice and seemed genuinely concerned,” according to the affidavit. She then called the police.

A SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) conducted an exam of the boy and sent evidence to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for analysis, the affidavit states.
