The filing period ended Wednesday across Oklahoma for residents who are seeking seats on local municipal governments, including those in Comanche County.
Locally, at least three seats ended the three-day filing period without anyone filing declarations of candidacy, Comanche County Election Board officials said.
The largest race will be for mayor of Elgin, where incumbent J.J. Francais faces challenges from four other residents. Those candidates include: Arthur Malone, Holly Martinez, Hannah Anderson Vaughn and Paul Tracy. In addition, candidate also filed for seats on the Elgin city council. Steven D. McKee filed for Ward 1, while Phil Britcher filed for Ward 3. All three seats are for four-year terms.
Other filings completed Wednesday in Comanche County include: (all are four-year terms, unless otherwise noted):
Cache: City council Ward 1: Flint Runyan. City council Ward 3: Stephen Red Elk. City clerk: Rhoda E. Thomas. Mayor: Scott Brown and Todd Mansel.
Geronimo: City council Ward 4: Lesley Fink. No one filed for the Ward 2 seat or city treasurer.
Chattanooga: Board of trustees (one position): David Robbins, Ricky Strecker.
Faxon: Board of trustees (two positions): Leonard Leroy Whitcomb Jr. City treasurer: No one filed.
Fletcher: Board of trustees (two positions): Douglas Stamper, Dick Herrin, Travis Smith. City treasurer: Cari Holden.
Indiahoma: Board of trustees (one position): Juanell Webster.
Medicine Park: Board of trustees (two positions): Richard f. Amadon, Tracy Owen. No one filed for the unexpired term on the board of trustees.
Sterling: Board of trustees (two positions): Pennie Wolfe, Garrett Lawson, Gwyn Smith.
