A Lawton man is in jail on $30,000 bond after investigators said he claimed to be “Jesus Christ” and “God” before hurling a knife at his girlfriend during an assault and then rampaging through a fast food restaurant.
Jackson Cole Miller, 35, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where he received felony charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious injury to property over $1,000, records indicate. The assault count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Lawton Police Sgt. Manuel Martinez stated he was called to an apartment complex, 1821 NW 82nd, on a domestic call on Feb. 1 and was told the suspect was a the nearby McDonald’s. He met with Miller’s girlfriend who said she noticed Miller was recording a video on his computer and when she asked if he was live, he told her to shut up before pushing her to the floor, breaking her prescription glasses, the probable cause affidavit states.
The woman said Miller began destroying the apartment while “yelling that he is Jesus Christ and that he is God,” Martinez stated. She said Miller threw a shoe at her, then grabbed a knife and threw it into the wall before grabbing it again and pointing it her while telling her to leave, the affidavit states. She went downstairs to the parking lot.
While inside her car and talking to a friend, she said, Miller busted the rear windshield and driver’s side windows with a hammer before taking off on foot towards 82nd Street, according to the affidavit. The hammer was later found under Miller’s car. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Another officer was called to McDonald’s, 1948 NW 82nd, regarding a robbery in progress. Officer Chad Green found Miller being held at gunpoint by another officer. He was taken into custody.
A McDonald’s employee told police Miller came into the store with a knife in his hand, walked up to her and told her to give him her phone or he would kill her, the affidavit states. She said he grabbed her phone from her hand, slapped her face and threw the phone on the ground, Martinez stated. He next threw the computer system and coffee pots on the floor.
Police secured the security video of the incident inside the restaurant.
As part of Miller’s bond conditions, he is to remain away from the McDonald’s.
Miller returns to court at 3:30 p.m. April 30 for his preliminary hearing, records indicate.
