Open Streets seeking participants

The Lawton-Fort Sill Open Streets Committee is seeking community organizations to participate in the 2025 Open Streets.

The family-centered event is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 29 on Southwest C Avenue, between Southwest 2nd and Southwest 5th Streets, with a goal of providing an array of activities for youth and families.

Open Streets will mean a temporary closure of designated streets to thru traffic, allowing participants to explore the public space on foot, bicycles, skates, scooters or other non-motorized means, organizers say.

That means activities are needed, and the Open Streets Committee is inviting community organizations to participate by bringing a family-friendly physical activity or game to promote a health community. All activities are provided at no cost to the families. Application forms are available at https://forms.gle/mHHX4dTb1Gy5M4W56 and all applications must be submitted by March 20. Open Streets, held in the spring and fall, is coordinated through the Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, Comanche County Memorial Hospital TSET Healthy Living Program, City National Bank, and the City of Lawton. March’s event will include dedicated areas for physical activities, opportunities for local businesses to connect with the community, and spaces for informational booths and workshops aimed at promoting health and community well-being.

This free event offers a variety of engaging activities for children and provides a vibrant, family- friendly space for the community to come together and enjoy quality time.”
