Beginning at 7 p.m. today, Fort Sill will adjust the operating hours for several gates to accommodate construction at Key Gate West and enhance community safety and security.
Key Gate West, located on Interstate-44, will close at 7 p.m. on Jan. 16 for an Automated Vehicle Barrier (AVB) system installation.
“These changes to our gate hours are a critical step in improving the security and efficiency of Fort Sill,” Fort Sill Garrison Commander Col. Derek Baird said in a press release.
“While we understand the adjustments may require some flexibility, we are committed to ensuring safe and seamless access for our Soldiers, Families, Civilians and community members during the construction period,” said Baird.
During the construction period, Bentley and Apache gates will remain open 24/7 with commercial deliveries through Apache gate accepted 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Scott Gate hours remain unchanged. 52nd Gate will be open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., closed on weekends, holidays, and training holidays. Key Gate East will be open Monday through Wednesday 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Key Gate East will also be open Saturdays and Sundays in January from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. with weekend hours being reassessed following a traffic study.
According to the press release, “the updates aim to enhance traffic flow and maintain security while accommodating ongoing construction.”
