A local contractor is wanted for allegations he took money for work left undone.
The Comanche County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Wednesday for Justin Lynn Seymour, 31, of Lawton, for a count of obtaining money by false pretenses, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to eight years in prison and/or a fine up to $5,000 plus restitution.
Lawton Police Detective Dane Swinford stated he spoke with a woman who reported she’d hired Seymour, owner of JustAnny Construction, to complete an addition to their home and a contract was signed Jan. 1 with a budget of $35,000, the warrant affidavit states. The woman’s father wrote a check for $17,500 on Feb. 5 for the upfront initial half of the budget and another for an additional $6,000 on June 2.
The woman said the only work finished was for a concrete slab and that had been sub-contracted to James Cooper with Cutting Edge Carpentry who had also not been payed by Seymour, according to Swinford. The woman said Seymour has since stopped returning texts or calls, the affidavit states.
The investigator stated that Seymour has been unable to be located due to moving and changing his number, according to the affidavit.
A $10,000 cash bond was issued upon Seymour’s arrest.
