FREDERICK — Frederick will be the site for a public outreach session by the Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO).
The session, keyed toward development of the Forward 45 Regional Transportation Plan, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Frederick Civic Center, 110 S. 17th Street, Frederick.
Officials said the public sessions are a key part of SORTPO’s commitment to involving the community in shaping the future of transportation in Southwest Oklahoma. Forward 45 is a comprehensive, 20-year strategic initiative designed to guide transportation decisions for all travel modes in southwest Oklahoma. It will address key issues such as transportation safety, system conditions, accessibility, quality of life and environmental impacts, with the goal of creating an integrated and efficient transportation network, said Julie Sanders, SORTPO director of transportation.
The public sessions will allow the public to learn about goals and objectives, take part in interactive discussions and activities to provide feedback, and engage in question and answer sessions.
“We are eager to engage with the community and gather feedback that will guide our transportation planning efforts,” Sanders said.
Information on the project, to include additional public events, is available at Forward45.com. An on-line survey is available at Survey.Forward45.com
