DUNCAN — A 23-year-old Duncan man in jail for drug trafficking charges is now accused of assaulting two other Stephens County jail inmates with a sock containing two bars of soap.
Due to two prior felony convictions, he’s facing between four years to life in prison if convicted.
Felony charges of aggravated assault and battery were filed Tuesday in Stephens County District Court against Billy Nikolas Lane, records indicate.
The charges stem from Sept. 29 assault in the jail that left two men hospitalized.
The incident happened in the day room of a jail pod that left one man with multiple injuries to his head, including a broken nose and broken tooth, the probable cause affidavit states. The second man received a broken left eye socket.
Lane has been in the jail on $150,000 bond after his initial court appearance Aug. 13 where he received felony charges of aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs and conspiracy to commit aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs after two or more felony convictions and a count of possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, and misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession and obstructing police, records indicate.
Following an Aug. 10 traffic stop that yielded two handguns and multiple fentanyl pills Lane was arrested, according to the affidavit.
Lane has prior felony convictions in Stephens County in December 2021 for assault and battery on a police officer and assault and battery on a detention officer, records indicate.
