Surge boosts building permit value to $34 million

A late-summer surge in commercial projects pushed the value of building permits to almost $34 million in August and September.

The total value of permits was $14,671,102 last month and $19,243,935 in August. The city issued four permits for new single-family homes in each month and for a duplex in August.

Permits at Central Plaza/FISTA accounted for more than half of the value of commercial permits. The largest project, valued at 13,888,449, was to reroof the 690,900-square-foot roof of the building at 200 SW C. Other permits included a $4 million project to remodel 21,182 square feet for a FISTA conference center; a $750,000 project to remodel 8,000 square feet for Camgian, a defense contractor; and a $750,000 permit to remodel 5,000 square feet in FISTA for Epirus, a technology company.

The second-largest single permit, valued at $5.5 million, was for construction of a new Marie Detty Youth and Family Services building at 4521 W. Lee. The 13,967-square-foot structure will include space for a dozen residents and for offices.

Other large permits included:

A $1.5 permit to replace the boiler at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, 3401 W. Gore;

A $1.1 million permit for new roofs at First Baptist Church, 501 SW B, a project that includes refurbishing the steeple;

A $682,000 permit to reroof Ridgecrest Center, 1831 NW 52nd;

A $471,000 permit for new roof at the retail center at 2412 Cache Road;

A $222,969 permit for a 1.022-square-foot addition to the UPS distribution center, 664 W. Bishop Road;

A $220,000 permit for remodeling commercial space at 1417 to 1423 NW 67th;

A $124,975 permit for a sprinkler system at the Westwin pilot plant, and

A $100,000 permit for remodeling at Life Church, 1826 NW 52nd.
