A 35-year-old Lawton man is accused of drilling holes in a closet and surreptitiously watching a 15-year-old girl drying off from the shower in 2023.
Steven Wayne McReynolds, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of peeping Tom with photographic/electronic equipment, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to five years in prison.
Two women spoke with Lawton Police Detective Jeff McCoy on Aug. 27 and they provided evidence and information. They said the girl’s mother caught Underwood after seeing the holes drilled in the closet wall, the probable cause affidavit states. McCoy stated he received the video taken by McReynolds as well as photos of the holes drilled in the wall.
The women called McReynolds on Aug. 24 and recorded it. In the call, he admitted to recording the girl and said he was in a “dark place” in his life, the affidavit states. He also admitted to knowing the girl was a minor but denied ever doing anything physical, McCoy stated.
The detective got a search warrant and saw where the holes were in the closet; they were drilled at head height, chest height and waist height, according to the affidavit. The holes have since been covered with toothpaste and black tape.
Held on $100,000 bond with the order to have no contact with the girl or her family, McReynolds returns to court at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 for his preliminary hearing conference.
