The Southwest Troubadours from the Lawton Academy of Music will present their annual summer show Friday through Sunday at various locations.
The show, “Take Pride in America,” will feature many patriotic songs such as “This Land is Your Land,” “This is My Country,” “Yankee Doodle Song,” “God Bless America” and of course, “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” according to an email from Kathryn Hickman, owner, director and teacher at the academy.
The Troubadours are a student vocal ensemble ranging from ages 7 to adult. They have performed at various locations throughout Southwest Oklahoma, including the Lawton Fort Sill Veteran’s Center, the International Festival and for the WWII demonstration team in Frederick.
This year’s show has several important messages for the audience, Hickman said. First, it’s never too late to thank God that we live in such a wonderful country. Second, that we have our freedoms and our way of life because of the brave men and women who’ve stepped up to defend our country.
All shows are free, family friendly and open to the public.
