DUNCAN — A month-and-a-half after an arrest warrant was issued for a 25-year-old Duncan man for child sex abuse allegations, he had his day in court.
Cody Austin Raybrook made his initial appearance Tuesday in Stephens County District Court for felony counts of first-degree rape of a victim under 14, lewd molestation of a child under 12 and lewd proposals to a minor, records indicate. The rape charge is punishable by between five years in prison to life without parole and, due to the charge, 85 percent of the sentence would have to be served before consideration for parole.
An arrest warrant was issued May 22 for Raybrook’s arrest.
The investigation began April 24 when the girl’s mother reported her now-12-year-old daughter had received explicit photos from Raybrook. The mother told investigators she’d learned a week before there had been physical interaction between her daughter and the man in 2023, the warrant affidavit states.
The girl told investigators she said she’d been sexually abused in 2023 when she was 11 years old by Cody Raybrook, the affidavit states. She cited more than one incident and said he’d threatened to “do something horrible to her” if she didn’t comply.
Raybrook is being held on a $100,000 bond. Records indicate he returns to court at 9 a.m. Sept. 4 for a preliminary hearing conference.
