ELGIN — Northern Comanche County proved hazardous for two Fletcher motorcyclists Thursday in separate wrecks that sent each driver to Oklahoma City hospitals.
FIRST WRECK
A teen motorcyclist was injured in a wreck around 7:45 p.m. on Northeast Meers Porter Hill Road and 120th Street, about 2 miles east of Elgin, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The 17-year-old unidentified male driver was traveling eastbound on Northeast Meers Porter Hill Road and attempted to negotiate a curve which caused the motorcycle to go off the roadway to the right where it hit gravel and caused the driver to lost control and lay the bike over, Trooper Robert Baca reported. Speeding was blamed for the wreck.
The teen, who was wearing a helmet, was flown to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in fair condition with head and arm injuries, the report states.
SECOND WRECK
An hour-and-a-half later, emergency personnel responded to a motorcyclist’s collision with a deer.
Timothy W. Harris was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on U.S. 62 when a deer crossed his path and they collided near Northwest McIntosh Road, 4 miles west and 2 miles south of Elgin, Trooper Spencer Sperling reported.
Harris, 63, of Fletcher, was not wearing a helmet. He was flown to OU Trauma in Oklahoma City an admitted in fair condition with head and leg injuries, according to the report.
