A man charged with selling a dose of fatal fentanyl and of bringing 50 pills with him into jail has pleaded guilty to all charges.
Brandon Samuel McClure, 37, of Lawton, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Comanche County District Court to felony counts of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a communication facility and bringing drugs into jail, records indicate.
Chief District Judge Grant Sheperd sentenced McClure to 15 years with the Department of Corrections with eight years to serve and seven years suspended for the murder count, three years to serve for the use of a communication facility and three years for the contraband charge.
The sentences are to be served concurrently.
McClure was arrested Jan. 18 for his role in the Jan. 17 overdose death of Steven Knight, 60, who was found dead from a fentanyl overdose at 315 SW Washington. McClure is accused of selling the fatal dose of fentanyl to Knight.
While in the Lawton City Jail, McClure overdosed on fentanyl pills he’d smuggled into the facility.
On Jan. 24, McClure and Jody Kay McDaniel, 35, of Lawton, were charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a communication facility. Sang Hoon Lee, 23, was charged with second-degree murder, using a telephone to distribute a controlled drug, distribution/possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and unlawful possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute, records indicate.
McClure has been in Comanche County Detention Center custody since his initial court appearance. He received credit for time served as part of his plea Tuesday.
McDaniel and Lee are each being held on $150,000 bonds. They return to court at 3 p.m. April 2 for their preliminary hearing conferences, records indicate.
McDaniel has been bound over for trial and is scheduled for the July/August jury trial docket.
Lee is next scheduled to appear in court at 4 p.m. Sept. 12 for a preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
