It is believed that all of the leagues that will be this summer are on the floor. If you are still on the wire, there are openings in just about all of them with the exception of some of the senior leagues that have full rosters.
As for scoring, well, the Honor Roll will speak for itself and we will blame it on the heat if for no other reason.
No Tap action however is strong. Perhaps there is a connection there as picking up single pins is not a factor.
Sam Bowman mastered the plan and scored the only no-tap 300 game last week that led to the high series of 807, while bowling week one of the senior Socialites No-Tap at Thunderbird Lanes.
Bowman started with 242 and 265 before tacking on the no tap 3-hundo to start the summer off with a 269 average.
Steve Lindsay shot 280 out of the gate in the senior color pin event at TBird, nearing the 800 goal with 794 and Tory Sammons rounded out the No-Tap highs with a 784 from T-Bird’s Tuesday Night Tapless league where she rolled 260, 258 and 266.
No scores have been received for the Golden Years No-Tap league at Twin Oaks but just for information purposes, that’s four no-tap leagues to choose from this summer!
Youth Bowling
Summer youth bowling started last Saturday morning at Thunderbird Lanes where quite a few bowlers showed up to keep their game in check over the next several weeks.
Youth coordinator, Walter Keithley, was overwhelmed with the turnout and it was a little hectic the first day but it is believed that there is room to add more bowlers.
Bumper age youth, under age 8, have their own pair of lanes to roll two games.
All other age divisions will be combined and divided into teams of 3 or 4 depending on the number of bowlers in the program. This division will bowl 3 games each week.
Bowling rental shoes, during league play, is free to youth bowlers and all new bowlers will receive a league bowling shirt courtesy of the youth program at Thunderbird.
Bowling starts at 10 a.m. and will run for eight weeks.
Contact Thunderbird Lanes at 353-3937 to sign up before next Saturday morning.
Please contact Twin Oaks Bowling Center, 442-2882, if you are interest in bowling in Fort Sill. We have not been notified of any youth bowling at this time.
