An Elgin man is free on $75,000 bond for a shooting the morning of June 5.
Sergio Emilio Granados, 21, made his initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, records indicate.
Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Merritt stated deputies were called to 910 1st Street in Elgin between midnight and 3:45 a.m. June 5 regarding a shooting call. Inside the house, the victim was found collapsed on the floor from a life-threatening gunshot wound, the probable cause affidavit states. He was taken to Comanche County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to OU Trauma in Oklahoma City.
The homeowner told investigators the wounded man stayed at the house four to five days a week. That night, they’d gotten into a physical argument before the man walked away. She called Granados to come over because, she said, she didn’t feel safe and Granados arrived with a gun, the affidavit states. At some point, the wounded man returned and she let him in.
When the man walked back into the bedroom, she said, Granados shot him in the head, causing a traumatic injury, according to the affidavit.
Granados returns to court at 3 p.m. Aug. 20 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
