Four people have been arrested for connection to the June 4 shooting death of a 23-year-old Lawton man.
Sgt. Christopher Blessing, Lawton Police Department information officer, said the four people were under arrest but declined to comment regarding their roles and what happened to lead to the shooting death of Sir Daniel Smith. He didn’t say when the four were arrested, however, no listings in Tuesday’s City Jail logs identify suspects in the booking charges.
Smith was shot and killed around 7 p.m. in the 1100 block of Northwest Smith Avenue. He was seen talking with someone inside a gray van or SUV moments before the sound of several gunshots rang out, according to a witness. A neighbor’s security camera captured video of the vehicle driving away.
Police arrived and found Smith lying on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Blessing said. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Smith’s death is the city’s seventh via homicide this year, according to Constitution records.
Police continue to investigate Smith’s death.
