Police making an arrest for a stolen car found more than that and now a Lawton man is in jail for methamphetamine trafficking.
Charles Eastman Perez-Negron, 48, made his initial appearance Friday in Comanche County District Court where he was charged with felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, records indicate. The trafficking charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Around 8 a.m. Thursday, a stolen Nissan Versa was seen at A&A Foods, 776 NW 16th with two people inside. When they got out, Perez-Negron and a woman went inside, Lawton Police Sgt. Michael Anderson stated.
Perez-Negron was detained and spontaneously said “he could call the owner of the vehicle,” the probable cause affidavit states. The woman told police she didn’t know the Nissan was stolen, that Perez-Negron had just come and picked her up shortly before then. It was learned Perez-Negron had an outstanding warrant for a felony charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Anderson stated.
During inventory of the Nissan, officers found several clear baggies, digital scales and 122.83 grams of meth inside and another 2.07 grams were found in Perez-Negron’s pocket, the affidavit states.
Held on $100,000 bond with the stipulation he have a GPS ankle monitor if he gets out, Perez-Negron returns to court at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 5 for his preliminary hearing, records indicate.
