A former McDonald’s employee is in jail on $25,000 bond after she admitted to taking photos of customers’ credit/debit cards and fraudulently using them for her needs.
Adrainna Anderson, 21, made her initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where she received two felony counts of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a credit card, records indicate. Each felony count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and between a $5,000 to $10,000 fine along with restitution.
On Friday, Lawton Police Detective Brandon Becker stated he learned of two separate cases of unlawful use of a credit/debit cards where Anderson had been identified as the suspect. In each case, the alleged fraud happened after the cards were used at McDonald’s, No. 1 NW 67th, where Anderson worked, the probable cause affidavit states.
Video evidence showed Anderson use her cellphone to take photos of the front and back of two separate customers’ cards while she was working in the drive-through lane on May 10 and 13, according to Becker. One of the card holders noticed $277.79 in fraudulent transactions and she reported it; the second woman found charges totaling $177.94, the affidavit states. The store manager showed the detective security video that showed Anderson taking photos of the cards before handing the cards back to the owners.
The detective went to Anderson’s home and found her in her McDonald’s uniform. She said she’d left the restaurant because she forgot her shoes, according to the probable cause affidavit. When she became nervous, Becker said he handcuffed the woman.
Anderson admitted to the crime, saying she needed the money for her child, the detective states. She said she took photos of the card on her phone where she’d downloaded an app to capture the cards, transferred the data to her iPad and used it to make purchases at Target, Uber Eats and McDonald’s, the affidavit states.
