Youth Bowling
Youth leagues are temporarily on hold until the summer season kicks off.
Parents of interested youth bowlers are encouraged to contact Thunderbird Lanes or Twin Oaks Bowling Center for youth bowling activities throughout the summer months.
Congratulations are in order once more to DJ Scott, this time for a spectacular comeback to finish in second place in the Youth Scratch Masters Tour event that was held in OKC a couple of weekends ago.
It was reported that DJ had a rough go at first but scratched his way from the bottom of the pack to take Runner-Up honors.
No-Tap News
Cleo Travis put an 828 handicap set together to take first place in the men’s division of the weekly senior no-tap color pin event at Thunderbird Lanes.
Defending champ Steve Jester settled for a second place win with 826 handicap and had the high series scratch score of 724.
Bonnie Ledford was the women’s champion with 765, followed by Teri Jester with 752.
Teri followed her husband Steve on the scratch highs list with 719 and Steve Mans grabbed the third spot in the scratch race with 718.
Mystery doubles winners were Diane Frame with Bonnie Ledford, 528, Steve Mans with Cleo Travis, 556, and Armour Brown with Teri Jester, 520.
Beginners luck was on the side of first time no-tap participant Lynne Nichols as she walked away with the Match Play purse after matching the same leave on three shots, all eight counts.
Nichols was the only taker in the Challenge shots draws but there were several strike pot winners, including Sam Bowman, James Halstead, Dave Yett and Mike Peckinpaugh.
Thunderbird Lanes will be in the process of installing a new automatic scoring system over the next couple of weeks so there will not be a Color Pin event on the 24th but will be up and going for the 31st.
As always, this event is open to bowlers age 50 and over.
