CANYON, Texas—The 10-team bracket for the 2024 Lone Star Conference Softball Tournament is set following completion of the conference season and Cameron will be one of the four teams taking the field today in a pair of first-round games.
West Texas A&M and UT Tyler tied for the regular-season title with WT earning the No. 1 seed by virtue of its 3-0 record against UTT during the league season. The top seed also hosts the LSC Tournament.
Play begins in the single-elimination tournament with four games on Thursday. First round action features No. 7 Texas Woman’s vs. No. 10 Eastern New Mexico at 11 a.m. and No. 8 Texas A&M-Kingsville vs. No. 9 Cameron at 1:30 p.m. Quarterfinals start Thursday afternoon as the No. 7/9 winner plays No. 2 UT Tyler at 4 p.m. followed by the No. 8/9 versus No. 1 West Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m.
Quarterfinals continue Friday as No. 3 Angelo State faces No. 6 Lubbock Christian at 11 a.m. and No. 4 Oklahoma Christian goes against No. 5 St. Mary’s at 1:30 p.m.
The four quarterfinal game winners advance to Friday afternoon semifinal games at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The LSC Tournament championship game is scheduled Saturday at 2 p.m. The winner of the tournament earns the LSC automatic qualifying berth to the Division II Softball Championship.
Wednesday the teams in the LSC Tournament gathered for the awards banquet and Cameron shortstop Taylor Rowley, a senior from Valley City, Kan., was listed on the first team all-LSC lisdt and she was the shortstop on the Golden Glove chart. Two other Aggies, Kaiden Boren and Tinley Schmidgall, were listed on the All-LSC Third team. Boren is a junior catcher from Harrah and Schmidgall is a junior pitcher/outfielder from Yuma, Ariz.

The 2024 Qualifying Teams
No. 1 seed West Texas A&M (45-6, 37-5 LSC), who won the 2024 LSC championship, enters the tournament week as the No. 1 ranked team in the NFCA Coaches Poll and the NCAA Division II South Central region. The Lady Buffs are seeking their sixth LSC Tournament title – the first since 2021 – and making a 15th tournament appearance.
No. 2 seed UT Tyler (46-7, 37-5) is the defending LSC Tournament champion and makes its third LSC tournament appearance. The Patriots claimed the 2023 tournament title with a 4-3 win over Oklahoma Christian. UTT is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region and No. 4 in the NFCA Coaches Poll.
No. 3 seed Angelo State (37-15, 28-14) is playing in its 21st LSC Tournament and owns a league record seven LSC tournament titles, last in 2018. The Rambelles rank No. 4 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region and hold at No. 22 in the NFCA Coaches Poll.
No. 4 seed Oklahoma Christian (32-20, 27-15) was the runner-up in the 2023 LSC Tournament. The Eagles are playing in their fourth straight league tournament. OC is ranked No. 5 in the Division II South Central Region listing.
No. 5 seed St. Mary’s (31-23, 26-16) will make its fourth consecutive trip to the LSC Tournament. The Rattlers are ranked No. 7 in the latest Division II South Central Region listing.
No. 6 seed Lubbock Christian (25-21, 24-18) qualified for its fourth consecutive LSC Tournament. The Lady Chaps are ranked No.8 in the Division II South Central Region ranking.
No. 7 seed Texas Woman’s (25-28, 23-19) are returning to the LSC Tournament for the first time since 2017 and 15th overall. The Pioneers won the 2013 title.
No. 8 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville (29-21, 22-20) earned a spot in its sixth consecutive LSC Tournament and 12th overall appearance. The Javelinas won the tournament in 2002 and 2019. TAMUK lists No. 9 in the Division II South Central Region ranking.
No.9 seed Cameron (30-22, 22-20) extends its streak of LSC Tournament appearances to 11 seasons (2013-24) and has played in 16 tournaments overall.
No. 10 seed Eastern New Mexico (25-25, 18-24) qualified for the LSC Tournament for a fourth time making its first back-to-back tournament since playing in both the 2001 and 2002 events.

Each game of the LSC Softball Tournament will be available on the LSC Digital Network or on the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase each game for $15. Customers who have a monthly or yearly pass will have access to all games.
The winner of the tournament will be named the LSC Softball Tournament champion and earn the league’s automatic qualification to the 2024 NCAA Division II South Central Softball Regional, held May 9-11 at a site to be determined. The Division II Softball Championships selections for the 64-team national tournament field is May 6 on NCAA.com.
