Two suspects are in jail awaiting charges for what investigators say are their roles in the April 23 shooting death of a Lawton man.
The two men were arrested following interviews with detectives, according to Sgt. Christopher Blessing, Lawton Police information officer.
Police were called shortly after 9:30 p.m. April 23 to the Bellaire Apartments, 622 SW Bishop, regarding a shooting. They found Donovan Moncree in the parking lot dead from multiple gunshot wounds, Blessing said.
A witness told investigators two unknown men ran from the scene after gunshots were fired. Following interviews, follow ups and evidence review, Blessing said the two men were identified as suspects.
The two men came to the Public Safety Building to speak with detectives and following their interviews, Blessing said, they were booked into the Lawton City Jail for allegations of first-degree murder. As of Tuesday morning, they had not been charged in Comanche County District Court.
Moncree’s death is the city’s sixth by homicide, according to Constitution records.
The Constitution’s policy is to not publish suspect names until charges are presented.
