Alexandria Biscaino held true to her name taking first place in the U18 Girl division of the 2024 Pepsi Youth Championship tournament that was held at Route 66 Bowl in El Reno over a two weekend time period because of its popularity.

Ali went in on a 166 average and rolled six games of 126, 245, 224, 192, 200 and 172 for a winning scratch series of 1159 for a $400 scholarship and an entry into the annual Junior Gold Tournament held in Detroit, MI this year.

Biscaino had to decline the entry which in turn went to the next place finisher but is pleased with bragging rights as this is her fourth career win in this prestigious event.

Other local bowlers to place in this event include Lee Perry who won a $75 scholarship with a 3rd place finish in the U10 Boy division for a 369 score and Kennedi Hicks tied for second with a 291 score in the U10 Girl division for a $112.50 scholarship.

Honorable mention in the U12 Boy group (4 games) goes to DJ Scott who was a pin out of cashing with a 902 score for fourth.

This event is and always has been a scratch tournament for youth bowlers however a handicap division was added for extra scholarship funds where Biscaino picked up another $110 scholarship for a handicap score of 1283.

Congratulations to her and to all of the bowlers for their efforts.

700 series’ were back last week starting with a super 769 by Dale Perry of the Early Birds. Perry lost to his son Chad the first game 258-257 but never looked back with added games of 266 and 246 to make up the total.

Chad held pace after the 258 opener and then games of 236 and 211 for a respectable 705 set.

No-Tap News

Cleo Travis was the man of the hour, busting out no tap games of 258, 198 and 265 that added up to 913 with his handicap for a first place win in Friday’s Senior No-Tap Colorama at Thunderbird Lanes.

As a side note to all of you youngsters out there, according to my records, Cleo is currently our oldest league bowler at 90 years young but just barely as Jackye King is a mere 48 days younger. Both bowl in the Socialites league on Monday afternoons at Thunderbird Lanes as well.

John Fortner settled for a second place win with 837 and Cle Cox grabbed third for a 787 score.

Diane Frame took first place for the ladies with a super 847 on scratch no tap games of 237, 257 and 200, followed by Kathy Zerbe with a 776 and Hazel Gary got third for a 772.

Fortner held on to his Scratch Singles title with a 759 followed by Malden Smith 709 and JP Nau-man, 666.

Mystery Doubles winners were Cleo Travis with Marshall Miller in both games one and three with scores of 550 and 554 while John Fortner with Vanda Edmondson managed to squeeze in the best score for game two of 532.

Strike pot winners were Nauman and Edmondson and Kathy Zerbe rolled 9-8-4 to win the “21 Jackpot”.

Senior bowlers age 50 and over are invited to join the fun every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes starting at 1p.m.
