Four men are seeking the seat being left vacant by long-time Comanche County Sheriff Kenny Stradley.

But three other county incumbents will keep their seats without an election, after the final day of filing ended Friday for county, state and federal offices.

In Comanche County, three Lawton Republicans signaled their intent to face off in the June 18 primary for sheriff: Andy Moon, 46; Michael Merritt, 56; and Dell Galloway, 58. One Democrat — David Stroud, 66, of Elgin — filed, meaning he will face the Republican winner in the November general election.

Also filing last week were three Lawton incumbents for county offices: Central District 2 Commissioner Johnny Owens, 80; County Clerk Carrie Tubbs, 54; and Court Clerk Robert Morales, 70. In Geronimo, Adam Hartle, 42, was the only candidate to file for the unexpired term of mayor.

At the state and federal level for Southwest Oklahoma, all but one incumbent filed for re-election (the exception was House District 50 Rep. Marcus McEntire, Duncan), but only three incumbents ended Friday without an opponent. U.S. Rep. Tom Cole and U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas also drew opponents in their quest for new two-year terms.
