FEMA has awarded $38,665 to Comanche County to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
According to a press release, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA awarded the funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
The release said a local board is made up of representatives from Catholic Charities, United Way, Lawton Food Bank, Salvation Army and the Great Plains Improvement Foundation. The board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Dr. MacDonald Chaava at 1306 SW E or call The Salvation Army office at (580) 355-1802 for details. The deadline to submit a letter of application is April 12.
