Easter is about family, fun and, for some religions, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For Lawton First United Methodist Church, extending their ministry is also a reason to celebrate the holiday.
The church will hold an Easter dinner with the Angel Academy Child Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday at 2602 NW Ferris. An Easter Egg hunt will be held after the dinner.
The Rev. Sean Cho, pastor of Lawton First United Methodist Church, said this is the first ministry they’ve done with the Angel Academy.
“Our church wanted to extend our ministries, outreach to our neighbors,” Cho said. “The Angel Academy shares the building with us. We want to adopt them, not only as our tenant, but as part of our ministry.”
Cho said that as part of the Lent ministry, they will offer the Easter dinner and the Academy will offer the Easter Egg hunt.
Cho said they plan to have more ministry events including free ACT Prep Courses in April and pot lucks in May and June.
