Joseph Langley led the association for series last week with a 769 from the Tuesday Night Mixed league at Twin Oaks where he rolled games of 259, 257 and 253.
This was also the setting for Giovanni Gordon who posted an adult league career high game of 278 that was 103 pins over his 175 average.
Meanwhile, up the road in the His and Hers’ at Thunderbird Lanes, Jeff Janssen was putting his own 278 score in the books only his counted for an 11 in a row recognition.
After putting together games of 222 and 224, Janssen reported a light pocket hit in frame one of game three that left a 4-10 split as his only error of the otherwise perfect finish that summed up 724 for series.
Dena Hicks also had a good night in the His and Hers’ as she earned high game honors with a 245, her opener to a 686 for series.
Brittney Williams gets credit for the ladies high series this week though, posting a 704 on games of 243, 226 and 235 in the Ladies Night Out.
Adult League Highlights
Gary Sammons, Early Bird league secretary reported that Chad Perry couldn’t find his way through the 9 pin in frame two of game number three, but found the other eleven no chore as he rolled a super 280 game on his way to a league high 742 and only 700 on the night.
Malden Smith was the star player in the Suburban league with 734 that went 278, 235 and 221, followed by Paul Davis with the night’s only other 700 series of 711.
Davis had games of 237, 233 and 241.
And Craig Fain led Goodyear bowlers with a 715 that went 244, 228 and 243.
Summer league schedules have been posted at Thunderbird Lanes. In some cases, limited space is available so early sign ups are encouraged.
Youth Highlights
Peyton (TY) Smith got the high marks in youth competition scoring a 601 on games of 181, 205 and 215 in the TBird Legends.
Lee Perry led in the U12 TBird HotShots with 490 that started with a 181 score.
And Chevy Townsell rolled his first 100 game of 114 followed by a 103 in the HotShots to assist in a career high 312 since ditching the bumpers.
It was also reported that Jaxon Hacker, bowling off a 69 average, had a triplicate 100 series.
Our top bumper bowlers last week were Emma Carter with a 100 game and William Mullins with a 101.
No-Tap News
A large gathering of 26 bowlers were on hand to play the back eight in last Friday’s Senior No-Tap Colorama at Thunderbird Lanes.
Leading after an opening no-tap 300 game was David Jones who went on to capture this week’s crown with an 865 for series.
Ryan Thomas was in the line-up this week, taking home a second place win for an 823 on scratch games that neared a triplicate at 244, 244 and 242.
And rounding out the top three for the men was JP Nauman with 814, one stick better than Sam Bowman’s 813.
Peggy Towne liked the high end of the house, scoring 275, 212 and 246 to get the win in the ladies group with 841, followed by Elaine Henderson who tallied out at 751 which was another close finish as Zari Conway missed the cut line with a 750.
Jones ended up with the scratch high series of 766, followed by Bowman with 759 and then Nauman in a switch-a-roo with a 742.
Mystery doubles champs were Elaine Henderson with John Fortner, 554, Herbert Scott with Ryan Thomas, 542 and Leroy Conway with Sam Bowman, 549.
And strike pot winners included John Fortner, Dave Yett, Herb Scott, JP Nauman, Leroy Conway and celebrating his first ‘senior’ tournament, James Middleton.
There were several close calls but no winners in the Special Challenge Shots portion of the event.
Senior bowlers age 50 and over are invited to join the fun every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes starting at 1 p.m.
